Corneline Drooger is 28 years old and lives in Sommelsdijk. With her background in communications and an MBO in facilities management, she joined Flikweert Vision a year ago.
From casual conversation to new challenge
When Corneline was looking for a new job, she came into contact with Flikweert Vision through an acquaintance. “I was really surprised by the size of the company. It is growing so fast and there are an awful lot of young people working there, which appealed to me immediately.” She felt the warm welcome especially on her first day. “Often a first working day feels a bit uncomfortable, but not at all here. The sales team caught me right away, was interested and helpful.”
From sales/office to office manager
Corneline started in a combined sales support and office role, but due to the company's rapid growth, her position soon shifted entirely to office. “There were many new colleagues, more visitors and the office was expanding. There had to be someone who kept an overview and was a regular point of contact. That's how I grew to office manager.” The position did not yet exist, which made it extra challenging. “Since I don't have a direct colleague in the same role, it was sometimes a bit of a search. Due to the rapid growth, all kinds of new tasks came up that I had never done before. You really get thrown in at the deep end, but because of that you also learn super much.”
A first day at work can often feel a bit awkward, but not at all here.
The lynchpin of daily operations
Meanwhile, Corneline has a versatile job behind the scenes. She arranges everything from fleet management and office layout to booking business trips and organising internal events. “I make sure all the facilities are in order, that guests are well received and that colleagues feel comfortable here. I enjoy unburdening others and seeing at the end of the day that everything is running.” Organising internal events especially energises her. “It's a challenge to come up with something that everyone enjoys, but then when I see colleagues having fun, it energises me myself.”
Open atmosphere and job satisfaction
What Corneline values most about Flikweert Vision is the atmosphere. “There is an open culture with short lines of communication. If something comes up, you can always discuss it. We have a meeting every two weeks to go over challenges and ongoing matters. And because I don’t have a direct colleague in the same role, I really appreciate that colleagues from other departments are always willing to help.” In addition, there is room for personal ideas. “It’s a humble company. There is a lot of organization, there’s humor, and we keep things professional in a nice way.”
