Lourent Schot, service technician
Lourent is 21 years old, lives in Nieuwerkerk and follows the BBL Mechatronics course through Scalda in Vlissingen. He has been working for us since August 2022; the company is close to home, fits well with his education and appealed to him because of its young and ambitious character.
From trainee to service technician
He started as an intern and then deliberately chose to progress through the BBL route. Initially he worked in the workshop, but in late 2024 he made the switch to the service department. “In the workshop, I missed the challenge and variety, but I have completely found that within service. No day is the same, and that makes the work so much fun.”
On-site challenge
Within the service department, he feels completely at home. Every customer setup is different, breakdowns vary, and occasionally he goes abroad for a job. “That variety, being on the road and having contact with customers is what gives me energy. It's great to see a machine running again because we solve the problem together.”
He does not shy away from larger projects either, especially when he can count on the cooperation of colleagues: “Being on the road with a good team makes the work even more fun.”
Growing with the business
Being there from the beginning means he has witnessed the growth of the company up close. “We started with a small club, now there are many more of us. It's cool to see how the company develops and that I get to be part of it.” That growth goes hand in hand with good working conditions and plenty of room to develop yourself. Thus, he has continued to develop in various areas, for example through his education and additional courses.

Collaborating on solutions
Lourent also contributes to Flikweert Vision's vision in his work.
“By solving breakdowns on site and completing projects properly, we provide direct added value for the customer. Sometimes we switch with colleagues in the office, who can watch via the software. That way, we arrive at a solution together. That cooperation, with colleagues from different departments, really makes a difference.”
Communication is key
Accurate work and good communication are crucial, he says. “Often customers are a bit further away, so it has to be right the first time. And you have to be able to interact well with different departments to work quickly and effectively.”
Leisure
During the week, he tinkers with our machines, and on weekends he likes to make time for his friends to go out and have fun together.
