IT Department
IT Department
When Jan started at Flikweert Vision in September 2022, the company was still operating from the farm and the team consisted of no more than ten colleagues. There was no separate IT department. IT was practically taken on alongside other work activities.
Four years later, things look very different. Flikweert Vision grew to more than one hundred employees, and with that came a growing need for internal IT knowledge. Now Jan, Henk, Kees Jan, and Dennis make up the IT team. What started with installing laptops and solving minor problems has grown into a department that handles the IT behind the entire organization.
IT grows along with Flikweert Vision
More employees means more workplaces, devices, and users. But there are also more applications, data, and processes that need to be well-aligned. That’s why IT is being increasingly professionally managed. As a result, the team is not only focused on what is needed today, but also looking ahead. What systems do we need as we grow? Where can processes be made smarter? And how do we ensure that our IT environment remains reliable and manageable?
“It’s not just about hardware and software,” says Jan. “It’s also about how to connect them to the processes within the company.”
From solving to looking ahead
This development is visible in various places within the organization. For example, a fixed IT onboarding process was established for new employees. With checklists, laptops, accounts, and workstations are prepared in advance so that everything is ready when a new colleague starts. IT is also involved from the very beginning in the new building construction. From the design of the server rooms and the installation of fiber optic cables to the systems that will be used in the building. Additionally, the team maps out the current IT landscape and looks at where applications and processes can be further improved. It shows how the role of IT is changing. Not only responding when a problem arises, but also thinking ahead about what the organization needs.
Knowledge increasingly within one's own home
With Jan, Henk, Kees Jan and Dennis, IT now consists of four colleagues with different knowledge and interests. From infrastructure and daily support to applications, business processes and developing internal solutions. By continuously building that knowledge in-house, IT can be closer to the organization and respond more quickly to developments within Flikweert Vision. That is also important towards the customer. Together with the infrastructure team, IT supports the systems needed to remotely service machines.
What this growth says about Flikweert Vision
The development of IT shows how Flikweert Vision has changed over the past few years. What four years ago was handled in addition to other activities has now grown into a team of four colleagues, each with their own knowledge and expertise. And that development continues. As Flikweert Vision continues to grow, IT grows along with it. Not only by solving problems, but especially by looking ahead to what will be needed in the future.
