Jelle Stouten
Jelle is 24 years old and lives in Zierikzee. After studying Hoveniers level 4, he worked in the trade for four years. “It was nice work, but ultimately also very tough. I noticed that I wanted something else, with more challenge and future prospects.” It turned out to be an important step towards a completely different sector.
From introduction to Flikweert Vision
The move into engineering came unexpectedly. Jelle got into a conversation with Flikweert Vision. “That conversation got me thinking. Shortly afterwards, I was allowed to go for a job interview and things moved quickly: I could start work straight away.” What attracted him was not only the content of the work, but especially the atmosphere and opportunities. “It is a young team, there are a lot of career opportunities and the company is growing incredibly fast. That made it a great opportunity for me. The fact that it is also close to home, I see as a big plus.”
It was totally different from what I was used to, but I was received very openly. Everyone was ready to help me, which felt good.
From mechanic to transport coordination
The first few weeks took some getting used to. “It was totally different from what I was used to, but I was received very openly. Everyone was ready to help me, which felt good.” Starting as a mechanic, he was soon given extra responsibility. “I was given the task of loading trailers. Now I also get to manage transport. That gives me challenges and ensures I keep growing.”
Challenge and togetherness
It is precisely this variety that makes the work attractive. “I can't do the same thing all day. What I enjoy most now is loading transport. That is a puzzle every time to place the machines properly and safely. Sometimes you encounter tricky situations, but through those challenges you learn a lot.”
Growth and contribution to the vision
What motivates him is that he directly contributes to customer satisfaction. “It's nice that together you make sure the machine gets to the customer properly. When I then later see videos of mechanics on site, where everything is running as it should, it really energises me.” He also feels his ambitions have been heard. “I indicated that I wanted to develop further. From then on, I noticed that people really thought along with me about where opportunities lie for me. That gives confidence and motivates me to challenge myself further.”
Proud of projects
One project sticks with him. “A while ago, we had a Divider run for the first time at a trade fair. We had all worked hard on that and it made me proud. Also, when service engineers later send videos from the customer site, you can see how our work connects well in practice. That gives energy.”
Working with pleasure
He says what sets Flikweert Vision apart is its focus on job satisfaction. “It's really high on the agenda here. And it is not just something that is said, but you notice that it is consciously invested in. Everyone comes to work with pleasure and you can feel that in the cooperation.”
Leisure
In his spare time, he seeks relaxation and exercise. “I run a lot, like to play football and still enjoy working in the garden. I also enjoy going out for a day with my girlfriend.”
