Mario van Koeveringe
Mario van Koeveringe is 19 years old and comes from Oosterland. From holiday worker to mechanic, from mechanic to sales engineer, and now he is studying Sales & Account Management at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences to eventually advance to account manager.
In touch with Flikweert Vision
His introduction to the company began through a conversation with service engineer Coen. “He then put me in touch with Stefan, one of the owners. From then on, the ball started rolling.” Mario deliberately chose Flikweert Vision. “I was looking for a company that really means something in engineering with a nice team. Here, we don't think up standard solutions, but build something that really helps the customer move forward.”
From vacationing to finding direction
Mario started at Flikweert Vision as a holiday worker during holidays and on Saturdays. After havo, he deliberately took a gap year. “I didn't know exactly what I wanted to study and had seen school for a while. So I decided to take a gap year and start working at Flikweert Vision as a mechanic. I immediately felt welcome.” After that year, he started an engineering course, but soon found that this didn't quite suit him after all. Meanwhile, he had progressed to the role of sales engineer within Flikweert Vision, which allowed him to discover at first hand what he really liked. “Because I was allowed to do different things, I discovered that the commercial part suited me much better than the technical part.” He took the final step when he started studying Sales & Account Management. “That course fits well with the direction I want to go in: Account Manager.”
“I was looking for a company that really means something in engineering with a fun team.”
From mechanic to sales
One of his biggest challenges within Flikweert Vision was the transition from being an engineer to sales engineering. “Two completely different roles, but precisely because of that I learned a lot.” Now he is taking the next step: moving up to account manager. What drives him? “Every day is different. I love challenges. I visualize integrations for customers and support dealers all over the world. Helping them with their sales process gives me energy.”
Working in a young, friendly team
For Mario, the work atmosphere is essential. “The team is young, fun, and friendly. Colleagues quickly feel like friends, something I’ve never experienced before during internships and previous workplaces.” In addition, he appreciates the significance that Flikweert Vision has for customers. “We truly offer solutions. It’s nice to see that our machines matter.”
Growth, opportunity and confidence
Within Flikweert Vision, Mario got the chance to look everywhere. “I walked along in almost every department. This allowed me to discover what I liked and what I am good at.” His proudest moment? “The project in Poland. I took care of the entire layout in consultation with our representative and the customer. I was given full confidence in this. It's nice to see this installation running in the end, which is satisfying.”
Outside work
Besides his job and education, Mario is under the bar at football and enjoys being with friends and family.
