Simon Bosselaar
Simon is 25 years old and lives in Oostkapelle. After completing his bachelor's degree in Agrotechnology and master's degree in Biosystems Engineering at Wageningen University, he found his niche at Flikweert Vision. Interest in the sector was there from an early age: at home, he has a mixed farm with arable and livestock farming.
From CV book to job
During his studies, an annual CV book of students was sent to companies. “Two years earlier, I had met Martijn and Lars at a company day. Later, when my CV was in the book, Martijn contacted me. Not much later, a proposal followed.” What attracted him was the combination of innovation, the location close to home and the young, fast-growing team. “The dynamic nature and freedom appealed to me immediately,” he says.”
Shaping a new role
Within Flikweert Vision, Simon was given the opportunity to set up the role of product specialist. “That didn't exist yet, so in the beginning it was really searching. You have to dare to come up with ideas and initiatives. Gradually, we shaped the function more and more.”
There is room for relaxation, such as sports during breaks, eating a sandwich together on Fridays or having drinks. That makes working at Flikweert Vision cosy and informal.”
Varied and instructive
The work is varied and varied. “I support sales, visit customers, provide training and help think about software developments. Part of the time I am on the road, the rest I work in the office. Because I work with many departments, I am always well informed and that makes my work extra fun. The working atmosphere also plays a big part in this. “There is room for relaxation, such as sports in the break, eating a sandwich together on Friday or having drinks. That makes working at Flikweert Vision cosy and informal.”
Contribute and grow
Simon also sees his role as a bridge to the customer. “I disseminate knowledge, identify problems and translate customer wishes into improvements. In doing so, I help R&D work in a more focused way and increase customer satisfaction.” In addition, he learns a lot. “Because there are no fixed paths, you learn to think up solutions independently. I become stronger communicatively and broaden my knowledge of the sector, from growers to processors.”
Leisure
In his spare time, Simon is often active: surfing, paddling or gardening. He also likes to meet up with friends, socialising over a beer.
